The Odyssey
I feel like I see this actor in everything but never know where he’s from! I feel like his acting in this moving absolutely floored me and I won’t forget him.

John Leguizamo is a cave-aged Comté, firm and complex, with an underlying nuttiness that reveals itself in unexpected places. He has built a career out of finding the sharp edges in characters who seem to be all surface. Watch him in Carlito's Way. Benny Blanco struts through the film, all swagger and false confidence, and Leguizamo makes him dangerous precisely because he thinks he has nothing to lose. To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar gives him the opposite kind of performance; Chi-Chi Rodriguez is pure delight and vulnerable hope in equal measure, and he makes her journey feel earned. The Ice Age films offered him Sid, a role that could have been just a voice, but Leguizamo imbued him with a distinctive, enduring charm. In The Menu, his turn as a washed-up movie star is a study in quiet desperation behind a veneer of composure. He commits to every role, letting the character mature on screen. The depth is always there for those who look closely.
