Hannah Waddingham is a sharp, vintage cheddar, the kind that hints at warmth before delivering a satisfying, unmistakable bite. She walks into a scene with a presence that feels earned. Ted Lasso gave her Rebecca Welton, a character who could have been a villain, and Waddingham layered in the hurt and the ambition with precision. She uses her height and voice like instruments, letting you see the character learn to wield her own power. In Game of Thrones, as Septa Unella, she gave a memorable performance with limited dialogue, using only a bell and a steely gaze. Les Misérables showed her range, even in a brief appearance. Sex Education allowed her to play a more relaxed, but still authoritative, register. She is never afraid to be a little grand, or to show the cracks underneath. Like a fine cheddar, her flavour only improves with age.
