Marius Pontmercy
Les Misérables
Loved his portrayal of Marius. His genuine and caring relationship with Eponine. His loyalty to his friends and his country against the love of his life
'The Big Cheese'

Eddie Redmayne is a young cheese, fresh on the board and still finding his own unique tang. He has a soft surface that gives way to surprising depths, often playing characters who hold more than they let on. Start with The Theory of Everything. Stephen Hawking’s body fails him, but Redmayne plays a mind that is only growing sharper, communicating whole sentences through a single eyebrow. Les Misérables put him in a revolution, and he made Marius a romantic lead who can still look a little lost. The Good Nurse finds him quiet and watchful in the background, a shadow that only gradually comes into focus. It is a subtle, unsettling performance. In the Fantastic Beasts films, Newt Scamander is an awkward hero who loves creatures more than people, and Redmayne gives him a nervous energy that is both charming and practical. He is still maturing, and each new project adds another layer to his rind.
